The banks have been encouraging the FCA to impose time limits in relation to bringing PPI claims. Despite the vast media attention given to PPI claims, many people nd the process of making a PPI claim far from straightforward, with many being left with no option but to pursue their claims through claims management companies. There remains the feeling that banks will continue to make the process difficult with individuals rather than specialists. Until this situation is rectified, time limits shouldn’t be imposed.

>> Greater Essex devolution

Plans to give people in Greater Essex a bigger say in how their local areas are governed are underway as part of the devolution deal with Government. Transferring power and money away from Westminster to Greater Essex are part of the deal being explored by Councils, and authorities across the county have been meeting senior Government officials, to look at what this could mean for Greater Essex.

>> Superfast Essex

The rollout of superfast fibre broadband in Essex has received high praise from the Government, who described Essex County Council’s partnership with BT as “exemplar”, as the project qualified early for a £1.9 million ‘success dividend’. The rollout of superfast fibre broadband in Essex has now reached 56,000 homes and businesses and is on track to extend this to 120,000 by 2019.
