Part of Chelmsford’s new £150m Bond Street development, John Lewis Chelmsford has marked its first month with strong sales and constant crowds of enthusiastic customers, and with over 65,000 customers visiting in the first 72 hours of opening, the retailer’s first shop in Essex has proved to be an early hit.
Customers have flocked to the shop since opening not only for the strong selection of fashion and beauty brands; but to also enjoy services offered, from a Kuoni travel concession to John Lewis’ renowned Home Design Service, as well as a new Bar:Cafe concept from Benugo.
Commenting on the best selling items, Laura Rawstron said: “We couldn’t have asked for a more marvellous reception from the local community – everyone at John Lewis Chelmsford has been on cloud nine as we’ve welcomed new visitors through our doors. The shop is performing well across all departments and we’ve also seen very strong ‘Click and Collect’ sales, which shows that for many our online channels continue to be an equally important part of the shopping experience as browsing in store.

We’re all determined to keep up this momentum and judging by the growing numbers browsing our Christmas shop, I’d say the annual hunt for the perfect festive gift is already well underway in Chelmsford.”
