In each edition of 4 Business, we choose a local charity to support with a £1000 donation. Our chosen charity for this edition is The Chalkwell Bay Sea Scouts.
Run by a team of dedicated volunteers they rely on donations and fundraising, along with members subscriptions, to keep the group running and ensure Scouting in Old Leigh affordable for all.
The group is an accredited Royal Yachting Association and British Rowing Training Centre, with in-house instructors training young people in a variety of nautical disciplines to national governing body standards. Maritime training is a key element of the syllabus, but it is by no means the only part – traditional Scouting activities such as camping, hiking, climbing, visits to new places, community work, and of course building new friendships, are all part of 3rd Chalkwell Bay.
Chris Daly, Asst Sea Scout Leader explained “£1000 is a welcome donation and will either be spent on our fuel budget for the year and may also contribute to the maintenance project which is to take place this year to the centre”
“Our mission, in common with the rest of Scouting in the UK, is to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.”
